America prides itself as being the best in the world. In this nation, the virtues or independence and pride are essential. Ironically, in a nation built on freedom, there are times when freedoms must be limited. Throughout history, there have been numerous instances where war and conflict has led to the abuse of civil liberties, rights that are protected by law.
The Amendments
Effected rights in conflicts:
- 1st Amendment- includes freedom of speech, assembly and press
- 4th Amendment- establishes right to privacy, requires a warrant or probable cause to search a home, prevents possessions from being taken
- 6th Amendment- right to a fair and speedy trial
